(WYTV) - Feed your kids breakfast before they go off to school this morning. Dietitians say parents should insist on it -- and go easy on the sugary cereals.
The Centers for Disease Control says breakfast-skipping is very common, especially for teens.
It might seem harmless and Jennifer Hyland, a Cleveland Clinic Children's dietitian, says there can even be a good reason they do it.
"Some people don't have an appetite when they first wake up," she said. "One thing is, if you're not used to eating breakfast, you're not going to have an appetite because your body's not used to it and it's not secreting the enzymes that it needs to promote that."
But skipping breakfast can impact your kids' ability to learn and stay focused throughout the day.
"If kids aren't eating in the morning, espec
