Morrisons is slashing prices on roughly 650 everyday essentials, starting from Monday. Products including chicken breast fillets, laundry pods, vegetables and enchilada kits are among those affected, with costs dropping by an average of 18 per cent, and the deals will run for four to eight weeks, according to Morrisons.

The reductions are designed to help stretch household budgets in the run-up to Christmas, the retailer explained. This comes as Office for National Statistics (ONS) analysis revealed that Britain's lowest-earning families experienced a 4.1 per cent surge in their cost of living between April and June.
