The Foreign Office has updated its 'safety and security' guidance for a popular European holiday destination. This newly released information particularly addresses the difficulties of trekking in isolated, mountainous areas, which can prove challenging for tourists.

"If you are planning a skiing or mountaineering holiday, see Policija - Helpful Advice to all Hikers, Trekkers and Mountaineers and National Meteorological Service of Slovenia before you travel," current advice from the Foreign Office reads.

"Off-piste skiing is highly dangerous as there is a risk of avalanches in some areas." Beyond this, the Government department has outlined seven crucial recommendations for those contemplating a trek in Slovenia.
