At long last, with reports swirling about the future of Howard Stern and his show at SiriusXM, the longtime radio host addressed his contract and the talk that he may be out at the satellite giant.

Back in August, reports ran that Stern's contract was up soon and that SiriusXM would make him an offer it didn't intend for the host and the show to take. Which would mean the end of The Howard Stern Show, and who knows where it could go?

Fans expected him to address it last Tuesday after Labor Day, but that got pushed back to Monday, Sept. 8. So, what did he say on Monday morning? Here's a recap of what was our live blog.

What Howard Stern said about contract negotiations with SiriusXM

Per The Hollywood Reporter:

Amid swirling rumors about his retirement or not being renewed at the satellite radio station, Stern cleared the air on Monday and said that he and his team have been talking about a possible new contract at SiriusXM and what that could look like.

“SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future, they’ve approached me. They’ve sat down with me like they normally do and they’re fantastic,” Stern said. “We’ve been talking.”

So, yeah. That was all a prank! Sounds like he's back for "a few more years" per Variety.

What Andy Cohen said about Howard Stern

Per Variety:

“I know you’re expecting a big announcement from Howard and this is not how things were meant to go,” Cohen said. “This was supposed to be a cleaner hand off – I’m kind of winging it,” saying that it has been a “surreal morning here.”

Added Cohen, “I can’t possibly fill his void” and said he was confident Stern would land on another platform soon.
