In Season 1 of the HBO drama True Detective, McConaughey portrayed troubled detective Rust Cohle, an emotionally burdened officer trying to catch a relentless serial killer. Though the character was only present for one season, he remains arguably its most memorable figure. The series' anthology format hasn't opened a window for Cohle's return, but that doesn't mean McConaughey hasn't given the possibility some thought.
