BATTLE CREEK — The Three Rivers volleyball team took first place in the Silver Bracket of the Cereal City Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats beat Sturgis 23-25, 25-12 and 15-13 in the finals. Mendon qualified for the Gold Bracket at the event and fell in the semifinals to Battle Creek Lakeview 22-25, 17-25.

A couple of milestones happened on the day. Mendon libero Jadyn Samson reached 1,500 career digs. For Three Rivers, six-rotation outside hitter Dani Glass reached 500 career digs on the day as well.

Three Rivers finished with four wins on the day. The Cats beat Battle Creek Central 25-10, 25-15 plus won over Athens 25-14, 25-10 and Hopkins 25-13, 25-12 before knocking off Sturgis in the finals.
