Patrick Gordon MacDonald has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for inciting hate and violence against Jews through terrorist propaganda. Justice Robert Smith convicted MacDonald in April on three charges: participating in terrorist activity, facilitating terrorist activity, and inciting hate against Jews. These actions were linked to groups such as the now-defunct Atomwaffen Division and neo-Nazi James Mason.

Crown prosecutors requested a 14-year sentence, describing MacDonald's actions as "vile." They argued that the severity of his crimes warranted a longer prison term. In contrast, MacDonald's defense team sought a sentence of six to eight years, along with credit for approximately 10 months already served in custody and under strict bail conditions.

MacDonald, who operated under the alias "Dark Foreigner," was involved in creating three hate-filled recruitment videos in 2018 and 2019. At the time, he was 20 and 21 years old. The videos, filmed in locations including Ottawa and Belleville, Ontario, depicted individuals in skull masks engaging in violent acts. One video showed flags of the U.S., Israel, and the European Union being set on fire, accompanied by armed individuals storming a building. The video concluded with a slur against Jews and a message reading, "Stay tuned shooters."

During the trial, MacDonald displayed no emotion as he was found guilty of his charges. He later issued a statement taking "full responsibility" for his actions. He expressed remorse for the "awful things" he said and created, and he apologized to the diverse Canadian community, which includes Jewish, Muslim, Black, Indigenous, and Asian individuals. "My remorse is sincere, and I hope you can accept it," he stated.
