COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Play ball! Or dance, run, swim, gymnastics, cheer -- a statewide fundraiser wants every single child in Colorado to have the chance to play sports.
Research shows even a season of participating in athletics can pay off dividends: higher self-esteem, improved mental and physical health, stronger academic performance and better leadership skills.
“They’re not just more confident today – they’re more likely to have greater career earnings as adults," read a news release jointly from Project Play and the Daniels Fund.
But in Colorado, youth sports haven’t always been truly accessible for every child.
