MADISON, Wis. -- Seven people, along with two cats and one dog, were displaced following a fire on Madison's north side Friday afternoon.
Firefighters arrived to the 200 block of Kennedy Heights before 2:25 p.m. for a possible fire in a bedroom.
The Madison Fire Department reported an occupant had extinguished the fire prior to firefighters' arrival. The residents were safely evacuated.
Firefighters applied water to some smoldering items in the area where the fire occurred, but no other fire extension was found. The building's fire alarm was reset while the smoke was ventilated.
Due to smoke damage and unhealthy air quality levels in the home, the household was displaced.
