The Dock Cafe closure left the Stillwater community without one of its most iconic spots to enjoy the St. Croix River, but a new restaurant set to open this fall will revive the dining destination with new flavor.
Siblings Luna and Anthony Ramirez and their father, Adrian Ramirez, are behind Río 1854, the "Latin craft kitchen" on track to open in October.
The new restaurant's name is a nod to the river and Stillwater's founding and the menu will focus on fusion dishes inspired by Latin American cuisine, including steaks and fresh seafood.
“This is a great opportunity for our family," said Adrian Ramirez, who founded Taco Libre and the South St. Paul grocery store Mexatlan Supermercado. "I'm putting all my experience over the years into this particular concept."
