ATLANTA — As anyone who takes a stroll down Spring Street in Midtown can tell, Atlanta is still building new apartments at a steady rate — up there with just about any other major city in the country, according to a recent report .

RentCafe published a report on newly constructed apartments in late August, ranking cities and metro areas by their numbers of units completed this year.

Atlanta came in as the No. 6 city, with more than 6,300 units according to the report. That railed No. 5 Phoenix (6,409), No. 4 Brooklyn (7,189) and No. 3 Houston (7,770) relatively closely.

Only No. 1 Austin (15,195) and No. 2 Charlotte (12,365) are running away from the rest of the pack.
