PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) - Trustmark Park is set to receive a major makeover.

On Thursday, the Mississippi Mud Monsters announced that they will be replacing the infield dirt and grass with synthetic turf.

The organization said Spectrum Entertainment will install Major Play Matrix® synthetic turf, which would cover more than 40,000 square feet of cutting-edge surface.

This change comes after several rainouts and field conditions caused games to be delayed or cancelled due to the flooding and sod issues of the infield, most notably in 2023 when an Ole Miss vs Southern Miss baseball game was cancelled during the middle of the game due to sod conditions in the infield.
