A mysterious blue object spotted between President Donald Trump’s teeth at the U.S. Open set off a social media firestorm and fueled speculation and plenty of mockery about the president’s health.
Legal analyst Amee Vanderpool, who pens the "SHERO" Substack, said she has confirmed the authenticity of a photo of Trump, who appears to be holding something blue in his teeth.
"On a completely unrelated note, here is what a 10mg Adderall and a Viagra look like," she said, posting photos of the two blue pills.
She wasn't the only one to question what was going on with Trump on Sunday at the tournament.
One person searched for possible blue pills that appeared to have five sides to them. Ropinirole, a Parkinson's drug, and Zantac, for heartburn, fall into that category. Another claimed it was a breath mint.
The photos sent the internet spinning into questions about the president's health, which has been a topic of conversation since his hands began showing large, dark bruises, and his legs began swelling.
"The problem? It doesn't match his prescribed medications. That little blue chew, likely PROVES Trump's failing health ... or paints the horrifying image of an affair," alleged investigative journalist Adam Cochran.
Even the X AI chatbot Grok got in on the comments, but it was undecided too.
"I saw the photo from the US Open. The blue item appears angular, possibly tablet-shaped. Viagra is blue and diamond-shaped, Adderall can be blue oval/round, Zoloft blue oval. Speculation varies (e.g., meds or mint), but without confirmation, it's unclear what it is," the bot said.
But a large portion of reactions were mockery.
"Must admit, this would look fantastic on Mt. Rushmore," said historian Aviel Roshwald.
Author Dean Gloster commented, "In fairness, 1) the guy is _not_ in good health, and 2) he might need that blue pill to sexually harass the women around him. (Two allegations against Trump of unwanted groping occurred at prior U.S. Open tennis tournaments.)"
He then linked to an interview with a woman who accused Trump of sexual assault from The Guardian.
Philosophy professor Jason Read asked, "Who wore it better?" showing a comic screen capture of the supervillain Nuke from "Daredevil."
One lawyer proposed it could be the inspiration of a new book: "Pillbully Elegy."
