GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - When the Florida football team finished the season 8 and 5 with a nice winning streak there was hope that the Gator football program had turned the corner. Florida was preseason ranked in every poll and some thought Florida had at least an outside shot at making the college football playoff.

In theory, that could still happen, but that now seems like a distant memory after South Florida came in and beat the Gators last Saturday in a game that had many in Gator Nation once again calling for the firing of head coach Billy Napier. Let me first give USF a ton of credit for beating their second straight team that was ranked in the top 25 and they’ll get a third chance when they face Miami this week.
