The self-aware spectator's quick-thinking saved him from becoming famous for the wrong reasons.

The incident happened during the US Open men's championship game in New York on Sunday.

Carlos Alcaraz was facing Jannik Sinner on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

A ball flew into the stands early in the contest and landed near a man.

He caught the ball and looked to the row in front, where he saw a young boy turned round.

The man immediately handed the ball to the kid in a classy gesture.

He then casually carried on scrolling on his phone during the tennis showdown.
