ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Sandia National Laboratory is testing a first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence neural network. The new AI technology aims to keep electrical grids running during cyber attacks or inclement weather.
The new technology interprets metadata, recognizing if power interruptions are caused by weather or by cyber attacks, and then recommends steps to remedy the issues. Builders said that with a bit more fine-tuning, the AI auto-encoder could be used to protect other critical infrastructure systems like factories and data centers.
