HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — This year's Clear the Shelters initiative has come to a close with hundreds of pets who have found their forever homes in the Rio Grande Valley.

The month-long campaign gathers Nexstar NBC stations, local animal shelters, and national brands to support pet adoption.

NBC 23 participated in the nationwide initiative in August, with final numbers showing 764 pets were adopted in one month.

Clear the Shelters 2025 also features an extended fundraising event from July 15 to Sept. 15.

Online donations will help the Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit and longtime campaign partner. Virtual pet adoptions can also be done through WeRescue.
