CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — President Donald Trump and North Carolina leaders are reacting to a horrific act of violence on Charlotte's light rail.

Surveillance video of the deadly stabbing of Iryna Zarutska shows Decarlos Brown riding Charlotte's light rail last month when Zarutska, 23, sat down in front of him.

She came to the U.S. from Ukraine to escape the war with Russia.

Brown and Zarutska had no interaction, yet after about four and a half minutes, Brown got up suddenly and stabbed Zarutska three times, killing her.

Trump offered his love to Zarutska's family on Monday and called Brown a "lunatic" and "madman".
