UCLA quarterback Pierce Clarkson has been suspended by the school after an arrest.

Clarkson is facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury.

According to LA Times beat reporter Ben Bolch, Clarkson was arrested on Friday night.

He was booked and immediately suspended by UCLA.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Clarkson and set his bail at $30,000.

According to Bolch, the weapon was not a firearm.

A hearing is scheduled for Clarkson on October 3.

"We are aware of the charges against Pierce Clarkson," a UCLA athletic department spokesperson said in a statement .

"He has been indefinitely suspended from all team activity pending the outcome of the legal process.
