SWIFT CURRENT, Saskatchewan — Romana Didulo, who calls herself the "Queen of Canada," was granted bail during a hearing on Monday. The decision was made by Judge Alan Jacobson in Swift Current. Didulo, 50, faces charges for breaching a court order and attempting to intimidate a participant in the justice system.
She was among 16 individuals arrested last week at a compound located in Richmound, west of Regina. Didulo and her followers, who refer to themselves as the "Kingdom of Canada," established the compound in 2023. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) conducted a search of the site, which was situated in a decommissioned school, and confiscated 13 imitation semi-automatic handguns, ammunition, and various electronic devices.
Following the search, health officials declared the building unfit for human habitation, prohibiting anyone from living there. As part of her bail conditions, Didulo must remain at a residence in Regina at all times unless she receives permission from a probation officer to leave. Additionally, she is prohibited from contacting anyone associated with the Kingdom of Canada, must avoid the Richmound area, and cannot possess any weapons.
A publication ban was placed on specific details from the bail hearing. Didulo has opted for her case to be heard by a jury, with her next court appearance scheduled for September 17.
