City officials have posted shark warning signs at the Kaiser Bowls Channel in Waikiki.
Honolulu Ocean Safety posted the signs this morning after a non-aggressive, 8- to 9-foot shark was observed at the popular surf spot. An HNL Alert also went out at 11 a.m. today for the shark sighting.
‘If you see or encounter a shark, notify Ocean Safety personnel or call 911 immediately,” said the alert. “Always check with a lifeguard for the latest ocean and beach conditions.”
Additionally, Ocean Safety is ramping up staffing for eastside areas ahead of incoming high surf generated from Hurricane Kiko.
