A man has been charged with manslaughter after an incident that resulted in the death of a two-year-old boy in the Riverina last year.

At about 3:10 pm on Friday 6 September 2024, emergency services were called to a property at Stockinbingal – about 20 km north of Cootamundra – following reports of a boy, aged two, falling from moving farm equipment.

He was taken to Cootamundra Hospital, where he died.

The 34-year-old man who allegedly operated the equipment and a three-year-old boy who was on the equipment at the time were uninjured.

All persons were known to one another.

A crime scene was established and investigations were begun by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
