MANASSAS, Va. — Hundreds gathered outside the Nepal American Community Center in Manassas on Monday evening to honor those killed and injured during the recent "Gen Z" protests in Nepal .
Chanting "No more killings" and "No more corruption," demonstrators lit candles and called for justice following a violent government crackdown overseas.
More than a dozen people were killed and at least 145 were injured when police in Nepal opened fire on protesters demanding political reform and speaking out against corruption.
For many in Northern Virginia's Nepali community, the tragedy is deeply personal.
"A few of my friends, they were at the protest," one attendee told WUSA9.
"It was really heartbreaking to hear this news of what happened," another said.
