IVANHOE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Over 25 people were arrested during Friday's compliance sweep in Ivanhoe, including one for improper use of fishing equipment.
During the operation, deputies arrested 26 people for a wide range of offenses, including drug-and gun-related charges, active warrants, animal cruelty, and possession of gaffs.
While a gaff is a barbed spear, typically for catching large fish, it can also be used for cockfighting. Possession of a gaff in this manner is punishable by up to one year in jail and up to $10,000 in fines in California.
