Mt Pleasant residents have called on their local council to oppose a proposed childcare centre.
The City of Melville is considering plans for a $3.5 million childcare centre at 34 and 36 St Michael Terrace that will cater for up to 113 children.
It will have 28 staff and be open from 6.30am to 6.30pm.
Public submissions on the proposal closed July 25 and the city’s report on the proposal to the Joint Development Assessment Panel — which will have the final say — is due on September 5.
Residents against the plan spoke at the city’s August 19 meeting, asking if the city would back them.
One speaker said there had been “significant community uproar” over the plans.
