A 38-year-old man was charged with murder Monday after he allegedly hit his estranged wife with a fire extinguisher and chopped her to death with a tomahawk.
Frank Julio Bright was charged by the Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney on Monday with second-degree murder. Bright is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Bright’s wife, Aimee M. Takaki Bright, 43, died of “traumatic injuries” to her face, neck, and back of head. Takaki Bright had multiple chop wounds to her head and neck.
The couple was married March 25. Takaki Bright filed for divorce on Aug. 5. “The parties have grown apart and no longer share common goals or mutual support,” she wrote in her petition.
Honolulu Police Department officers responded to the couple’s shared home in the 99-600 Block of Haaheo Place
