ON THIS DAY IN 1905 , the Eagle reported, “Both the Japanese and Russian plenipotentiaries spent very quiet early mornings at their respective hotels, in Manhattan, the day being planned for visits to President Roosevelt, at Oyster Bay, as a farewell from each. Baron Komura and Minister Takahira left the Waldorf-Astoria at 9:30 o’clock, bound for Oyster Bay, where they had lunch with the President.
