CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than eight months after a deadly shooting unfolded in Charlotte , police said a second suspect is now back in Mecklenburg County.

On Aug. 21, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced FBI agents in Atlanta arrested 27-year-old Dontae Harrison and charged him with murder in the death of Demarcus Gerald, who was 25 years old when he was killed in December 2024. Harrison was extradited to Charlotte and is now in Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office custody. He has a first court appearance scheduled Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
