President Donald Trump has dismissed a newly released letter allegedly sent to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, calling it a “dead issue.”

The letter, which was part of a trove of documents released by the House Oversight Committee, has sparked a political firestorm, with some of the president’s own Republican allies joining Democrats in calling for more transparency.

“I don’t comment on something that’s a dead issue,” Trump told NBC News in a call Tuesday morning. “I gave all comments to the staff. It’s a dead issue.”
