ELMWOOD, La. (WGNO) — Amazon has officially launched a 150,000-square-foot same-day delivery center in Jefferson Parish, where advanced robotics and human workers operate side by side to get packages out the door in hours instead of days.

“Same-day is one of our fastest growing business lines, and we’re always looking to see where our customers want these services the most,” said Stephen Grant, an Amazon site leader.

Known as SSY1, the facility is built for speed. Robotic drives ferry bins of products across a vast network of conveyors, where employees quickly scan, pick and pack orders. Boxes then drop onto sorting belts, where technology instantly directs them to the right chute for delivery.
