Ford Motor is recalling more than one million cars for malfunctioning rear-view cameras, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Sept. 4 recall notice covers 1,456,417 vehicles of more than 50 different models and model years that may experience a blank or distorted image from rear-view cameras. The camera may display inverted and warped images, or none at all, resulting in increased backover, crash and injury risk.
The impacted vehicles range in year from 2015 to 2019 and include popular models such as the Edge, Expedition, F-250, Mustang, Ranger and Lincoln Navigator.

A total of 51 models and model years are impacted by the recall, according to NHTSA.

- 2015–2019 Ford F-450 SD

- 2019 Ford Ranger
- 2016–2019 Ford Transit
- 2015–2018 Ford Transit Connect
- 2015–2019 Lincoln MKC
- 2015–2017 Lincoln Navigator
What to do if you have a recalled Ford vehicle
Owners of recalled cars should bring them to their closest Ford dealer, who will inspect and replace the rearview camera for free if necessary. Notifications are expected to be sent via mail by Sept. 22.
Owners can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 about recall number 25S89. This recall is an expansion of a previous NHTSA recall 25V270.
