Gander is featured in tonight’s episode of Amazing Race Canada.

Mayor Percy Farwell says filming of the episode actually took place in May, but the town was sworn to secrecy at the time.

He says town officials helped the film crew with some of the logistics, and in pointing out areas of interest.

Farwell says while a few officials were aware of what was going on on a need-to-know basis, most residents could only guess at what was happening.

“We had a lot of residents wondering what all the fuss was about,” says Farwell, but they couldn’t talk about it “because the nature of the show, they don’t want to have anything disclosed prior to going to air.”

Farwell says he’s looking forward to seeing how the town is portrayed on the show.

Amazing Race airs on CTV tonight at 10:30 local time.
