An Indiana man has accomplished his goal of growing the world's tallest sunflower.

Alex Babich of Fort Wayne had a mission to break the record of a 30-foot sunflower, which was set in Germany. He pulled it off last week with his sunflower, which he named Clover, measuring in at a whopping 35 feet and 9 inches.

Sunflowers have a special meaning to Babich, who immigrated to the U.S. in 1991 — it's the national flower of his home country Ukraine.

He told NBC affiliate WPTA that his world record sunflower came after several attempts.
