Jim Shaw’s recent column included a startling statement — unverified as far as I can tell — from a Canadian trying to cross the border into the U.S.

"Even crossing the border into North Dakota frightens them. Fellow Canadians told them that border guards in Pembina asked them if they agree with Trump’s policies, and some were denied entry because of their answers,” Shaw wrote.

If verified and true, the border guards’ actions are despicable, inane and harming our state’s reputation and economy. And it’s news. Hugely.

Please, The Forum, Grand Forks Herald, North Dakota Monitor, North Dakota News Cooperative, Minot Daily News, and any other news outlets in the state: Investigate the hell out of this.
