PHOENIX – Human remains found under a concrete slab in northern Arizona four years ago have been identified as an apparent murder victim, authorities announced Monday.

The big break in the fascinating cold case came in the form of a tip from a woman whose parents might have been responsible for the man’s death.

A property owner in Dolan Springs, a rural community northwest of Kingman, found the remains when he broke up a concrete slab in his yard in August 2021, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Investigators determined the victim was probably in his 40s, died of a gunshot wound to the head and was buried under the slab for at least 10 years. However, they were unable to identify the John Doe.
