WALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - An Olivet man was killed early Tuesday morning after a pickup truck rear-ended his moped.

Michigan State Police say the crash happened around 6:45 a.m. near Marshall Road and Brandy Lane.

There, troopers found a 40-year-old man from Olivet had been riding a 2008 JCL moped northeast on Marshall Road when a 2009 Dodge Ram struck him from behind.

The pickup was driven by an 18-year-old Bellevue man.

EMTs transported the moped driver to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The pickup driver was unharmed.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
