MATHEWS, Va. — A man and woman were arrested Tuesday for alleged elder abuse and financial exploitation, according to Mathews County deputies.

On September 2, deputies responded to a report in the Morgans Branch area regarding possible abuse of a bedridden 58-year-old resident. Authorities say 24-year-old Jason Alexander Mackey Seeker and 33-year-old Chelsea Jade Stein, who were living in the home, claimed to be the primary caretakers. The investigation revealed the victim had been "deprived of adequate care" and financially exploited over time. The victim was taken to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital for treatment of injuries.
