A 23-year-old Emmet County woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the drowning death of a 9-month-old child.

Emmet County Sheriff Matt Leirstein confirmed the Aug. 28 arrest of 23-year-old Moranda Legato to the News-Review. The incident occurred on May 19. On that day, officers were dispatched to Legato's residence at 4731 Oden Road after a 911 call reported the drowning of the infant. When they arrived, CPR was in progress but the child later died.
