ROCK FALLS, Ill. — A two-vehicle crash on a major highway killed one person and injured others on Monday afternoon.
On Monday, Sept. 8, around 3:30 p.m., the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 at the I-88 Mile Marker 44 westbound on-ramp.
The deputies' investigation revealed that a red Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on Route 30, trying to turn west onto I-88. The Impala did not yield to eastbound traffic on Route 30 and was hit by a red Ford truck.
The Impala's passenger was killed, and both drivers suffered serious injuries.
"This is a tragic crash that has claimed a life and left others seriously injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected," said Sheriff John F. Booker. "Incidents like this
