OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — Ogden City is proposing a project that would bring a surf wave to the Weber River.

"The whole idea is to add a wave that'll make it so you can surf," Phil Suiter, a storm water engineer with Ogden City, told ABC4.com. "It'll produce a standing wave from a foot to two feet [high],"

According to Suiter, the proposed surf wave will be located about a quarter mile downstream from Ogden River Kayak Park. Part of the project will entail removing an abandoned concrete diversion site that Suiter says is hazardous.

"The proposed project will include the installation of pneumatically operated gates and rubber rocks to control the hydraulics, a concrete access ramp, a surf wave, and a fish passage channel," the project proposal reads.
