A Hamilton police officer was charged by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Hagersville, Ont., for declining to provide a breath sample.

The officer was off-duty when the incident happened on Sept. 8 at 11:10 p.m., according to Hamilton police.

Haldimand OPP said in a news release, the officer, who was driving alone had "struck a parked unoccupied vehicle."

Police said no injuries were reported.

Hamilton police said in a news release the officer, a 37-year-old woman, "has been reassigned to administrative duties." She was charged with "failure or refusal to comply with demand."

The officer will be in court on Oct. 7 in Cayuga.
