The UK Government has recently announced that Winter Fuel Payments will be automatically distributed to roughly nine million individuals in England and Wales. Those born prior to 22 September 1959 can expect to receive between £100 - £300 during November and December, with a letter sent in advance detailing the precise amount they can expect.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) advises that these letters will be sent out throughout October and November. Starting from next week - 15 September - those who may need to claim this year's payment can do so by post, or over the phone from October 15.
