CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Students at The Citadel had the chance to ask the Chief of Space Operations for the United States Space Force questions about what he does and why the branch is crucial for national security.

In his Greater Issues address, Chief of Space Operations Gen. B. Chance Saltzman explained what the force does and its priorities for the future. Protecting and defending the space domain is the reason for the establishment of the Armed Forces’ newest branch, the Space Force.

“So why do we care so much about what’s happening in space? The fact is space has become critical to all of us every day in a multitude of ways, even though it can sometimes be hard to see the contributions,” Saltzman said.
