POLK COUNTY, Texas — Two Polk County inmates were hospitalized after a suspected drug overdose.
According to Polk County Sheriff's Office, jail staff responded to a medical emergency inside the jail on Sept. 6 at 12:49 p.m. where two inmates were suffering from suspected drug overdoses. Correctional officers initiated lifesaving measures, which included administering multiple doses of Narcan to both inmates before EMS crews arrived.
The two inmates were identified as Tyler Lance Williams, 31, of Point Blank, and Fredrick Duane Evans Jr., 30, of Onalaska. They were both transported to a local hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident found the inmates likely ingested K2, a synthetic narcotic. Their belongings and pod were searched, and no additional contraband was locate
