PAWTUCKET – Ending a lengthy period of speculation on its future, city-based company Hasbro has announced it will relocate its Rhode Island operations to 400 Summer St. in Boston’s Seaport District.

The news has long been anticipated by state and local officials, who received little response to their efforts at engaging in negotiations to keep the company.

The Breeze reported last week that city officials still hadn't heard back from the company, a common theme shared with state officials.

Efforts to market a collection of properties centered at Apex had stalled as local officials waited for the official word from Hasbro. They had offered those properties to the company, but will now pivot to finding a new redevelopment opportunity to pair with the Tidewater Landing development on
