A decomposed body in a bag was reportedly found in a Tesla belonging to a rising US music star in Los Angeles, according to local media.

News outlet NBC quoted a police statement which reported officers had been called to an impound lot in the city over a "foul odour" coming from one of the vehicles.

They found a badly decomposed body wrapped in a bag in the Tesla's trunk.

Police told NBC the remains were not intact.

The car had been in the impound lot for several days, after being taken there when a person reported it abandoned.

The Tesla has been widely reported as belonging to singer D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke.

He has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
