AUSTIN, Texas — A Fort Hood woman is asking the Austin Police Department and the city to take accountability for a life-altering injury she suffered two years ago, ending her military career.
Na’Kole Curry, 24, filed suit last week against APD, the city of Austin, Soho Lounge – where the incident happened – and at least 10 unnamed officers.
The complaint, filed by attorney Johnathon Cox of Cox Pradia Law Firm, claims APD used excessive force, endangering innocent bystanders during a confrontation on Sixth Street on Dec. 16, 2023 .
Curry, who was 22 at the time of the incident, had been waiting to enter Soho Lounge for a night out with friends when officers arrived at the scene.
According to lawsuit documents and police reports, a man in a yellow jacket was denied entry to the bar.
