Canadian auto laborers will see more work next year when Stellantis NV reopens a third shift at its Windsor Assembly Plant, a win for the Toronto-based Unifor union amid a punishing trade war with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The labor group on Tuesday also lauded a decision by General Motors Co. to push back a shift cut at its Oshawa truck plant until the end of January 2026 at the earliest.

Unifor National President Lana Payne said in a statement that the companies' continued investments in Canada are a win "for a critical industry that remains under siege by unfair, unjust U.S. tariffs.”
