KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An integral part of the Chiefs’ dynasty is returning to Kansas City as the Drum Honoree for Sunday’s home-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs announced Tuesday that former Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu will be back at Arrowhead Stadium to perform the pregame ritual for the Week 2 Super Bowl rematch against the Eagles.

It’ll be the first home Chiefs game since Mathieu announced his retirement from the NFL. Mathieu announced his retirement in July after three seasons in New Orleans to close his career.

Mathieu played for the Chiefs from 2019-21, helping Kansas City win Super Bowl 54 and appear in Super Bowl 55 during that time.
