A 13-year-old boy died and three other teens were wounded when gunfire erupted in a residential neighborhood in the Orange County city of Santa Ana on Monday, Sept. 8, police said.

The deadly shooting was first reported about 8:20 p.m. in the 400 block of South Susan Street, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

The department received multiple reports of gunfire when they encountered four young victims, the agency said in a written statement.

One of the victims, 13, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said. He died from his injuries at the scene. His identity was not released Tuesday.

Three additional victims, ages 14, 15, and 16, were also wounded by the gunfire and taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be lif
